I’m going to try to keep this upbeat. My parents live in Pinole. I drive to Pinole every other week to help my mom take care of my dad. He has Lewy Body Dementia, and my mom is his primary caregiver.
The drive takes about 6 hours with a couple rest stops. Once it only took me 5.25 hours, and then I realized that I have a lead foot and need to curtail my thirst for speed. I drive a Toyota Solara and it gets 34 mpg. Thirty four! I love it. I’m really not looking forward to the 10 mpg that my soon-to-be house on wheels is going to get.
Tonight I helped my dad eat. He usually doesn’t like it when people try to feed him, but today he said, “Feed me!” And then he laughed. I’m glad he can crack himself up even in the later stages of dementia.
