After a busy day of work, I ran outside today to catch the last few minutes of daylight and commence filling Gypsy’s hollow channels with Great Stuff. In all of 15 minutes I’d burned through two cans of the stuff, and filled only about 1/4 of the hollow channels inside the van. I only did 15 minutes worth of work on the van today, but it was a fun 15 minutes.
Great Stuff is pretty nifty stuff. Running a nice long bead along the channel left by the high top installation felt a lot like icing a cake… not that I’ve ever iced a cake. It’s what I imagine icing a cake feels like.
I hope to complete the foam-in-a-can job tomorrow, and have the rear a/c removed on Wednesday. After that… what’s next is anybody’s guess. I’m getting to the point where I’ll need to have a pretty solid plan in place in order to make any progress. I have the sneaking feeling that in the near future I will be spending my days feverishly working and my nights feverishly googling things. Physical progress on the van, slow as it’s already going, will slow down even more while I carefully figure out a layout, electrical, plumbing, and fabrication—all stuff that two months ago I’d hoped to have figured out by now. So it goes.
