It amazes me how often I do things just because someone told me to do them. I don’t mean to make it sound like I can’t or don’t want to think for myself, but sometimes it’s just easier to blindly follow the advice of others who have more experience than to ask too many questions and wear out my noodle. I question so many other things in life, usually swimming upstream, that questioning the small stuff doesn’t seem worth it.
Several people have suggested that I plug the holes in the floor left by the seat rails. I think the reason is so water and road debris won’t come up and into the van. It seemed like a reasonable thing to do, so I did that today.
I used 1/2″ plastic plugs and 3/8″ plastic plugs (different sized holes need different sized plugs) and sealed them with Sikaflex Construction Sealant. I’m not too worried if they don’t seal very well because the next layer is some super sticky sound deadening and it should hold the plugs in place without any problems.
Now that I think about it, the sound deadening would probably have been enough to keep water and debris out, but it’s comforting to know that the plugs are there anyway. Gypsy should feel lucky that the Queen of Overkill settled for this solution and didn’t go and weld the holes closed.
