One thing I didn’t account for when I decided to get a 30″ high top was the enormous surface area on the inside. All that area has to be insulated, and with all the nooks and crannies created by the wood reinforcement, it’s taking an incredibly long time to do. The ceiling is about halfway done.
All the ridges and bumps are starting to look the same, so I thought it would be wise to mark the strips of wood. I could just see myself a few weeks (months) from now, delirious and lost in the abyss of van conversion hell, throwing up cabinetry any old how and completely forgetting where the wood was located. I’d drill straight through the fiberglass, not even realizing what I’d done until the cabinets came crashing down, taking chunks of fiberglass with it. Yeah, let’s try to avoid that.
