Bed Frame Done

Whew! It’s been a long day. It took a LOT longer than we thought it would, but the bed frame is finally done.

It’s made of redwood, and coated with 2 coats of water based polyurethane. The perimeter is made of 2x4s, and the slats are 1x6s. The head section has the ability to hinge upward or lock straight. The hinges are nothing fancy—clevis pins, washers, and cotter pins.

Jef spent several hours painstakingly chiseling counterbores for the washers and clevis pins.

Rather than subject you kind folks to another planking photo, we decided that gut levers are much cooler. And much more appropriate for an ex-gymnast and an ex-wannabe-gymnast. Take a guess at which is which. Hint: one of us looks calm and controlled, and the other resembles a lawn dart.
