December 23rd, and I just might get away with not having set foot inside a shopping mall for the entire holiday season. That is definitely something to celebrate.
Of course, it helps that Dad asked for a jar of food for Christmas, I bought Mom’s present at The Home Depot, and the J man … well, I have to remain mum on that one since he occasionally reads this blag.
And that’s pretty much the end of my shopping list.
Oh! And Sake will probably get a new old toy—one of my old stuffed animals from my childhood re-gifted 25 years later to my dog. I doubt she’ll mind.
Ever since Sake came into my life I’ve been shamelessly exploiting her for my holiday cards. As much as I’d like to think So what? She’s a dog, she doesn’t care. The look on her face says it all. This one she does mind.
This was 2011’s holiday card. At some point I’ll take a photo for 2013’s holiday e-card which will be distributed en masse right here. “Going green” is a really wonderful excuse for being lazy.
Like I mentioned a few days ago, Gypsy is all set to have a roof rack installed on the 27th. In preparation for that momentous event, Jef and I have been steadfastly working on various components.
Yesterday we cut the door skin plywood that will line the floor of the loft area. The plywood on the sides of the loft will provide a sturdy backing for the roof rack, so we’re having to build part of that area even though there are other things we’d rather focus on.
Today we bought, sanded, and painted the long steel bars that will eventually hold the solar panels.
It looks like we’re going to have a fairly busy week of van stuff, taking care of Dad, and design work—not to mention that somewhere in there we’ll be attending our annual family Christmas party, complete with epic food and cousins whose names I have trouble remembering (I have a really big family). We’re all set for a productive week. Stay tuned for the fun.
