Nothing but crickets around here for awhile. Yes, my post frequency has started to dwindle. It’s not because I haven’t wanted to write, it’s more like … the oppressive cloud of Pinole has been slowly crushing my soul. Without going into detail, lets just say that taking care of a parent who has dementia is a huge responsibility.
Onto the fun stuff. I’ve been cutting and finishing wood for the cabinet that will house all of the batteries and electrical components. It’s taking awhile due to a lack of space.
The cable connectors for my DIY combiner box finally arrived so Jef and I were able to start cobbling it together. The box is a Pelican 1170, and the connectors are Amico PG7.
And now for the really fun stuff.
Ta-da! A fresnel lens! What can you do with a fresnel lens?
Cook! Amazing, isn’t it? I could hardly believe it myself, but it really does work. I cooked that egg in less than ten minutes. I actually burned part of it, and about half of it was so overcooked that I couldn’t pierce it with a fork, but I did eat the edible half. More experiments with it, and a detailed write-up are coming soon. On the menu tomorrow: bacon and eggs, cooked by the sun!
