Miracle of miracles, Gypsy is finally livable. After months of procrastinating, I finally finished cutting the wood for the floor, and added legs to the bed frame. I haven’t even begun to think about the walls or the ceiling—at this rate we can expect those to be finished some time next year. Between the tortoise and the hare, I’m most definitely the tortoise.
After placing the bed frame inside the van (it’s been sleeping peacefully in the garage while I worked on the electrical stuff) I finally got to see if the notches in the frame will work to keep the bed from sliding forward and back. They seem to work just fine. Low tech solutions for the win.
Jef, Sake, and I drove down to Los Angeles today. As we drove we realized that if we wanted to, we could totally stop wherever we wanted and take a snooze, have a snack, use the bucket, etc. I could even cook up some eggs, and wash the pan under running water—inside the van! How cool is that?
We opted to make a pit stop at Taco Bell and have a little indoor picnic instead, but still, it was nice to know that home, or something resembling it, was literally strapped to our backs.
