Building Storage

Work on the storage area over the cab is well underway.

Hopefully only a few more days of climbing around like that. I mean, it’s fun and all, but it certainly doesn’t make for flattering pictures.

I lost quite a bit of sleep over the design of this area. Where do I begin? How do I build in such an oddly shaped space? One big compartment or several smaller ones? What will I be storing in there? Should I build with 2x4s or plywood?

So many questions. Finally, after several days of mulling, my creative brain finally kicked in and came up with an answer to the last question:

Weirdly shaped plywood.

The holes are mostly to take some weight off, but the middle hole has the added benefit of providing access to the bolts that are holding the roof rack to the fiberglass high top, should access ever be needed. Yeah, it looks a little weird, but thankfully it’ll all be hidden by stuff when the final product is completed.

And when will that be? Soon, I hope. Your guess is as good as mine.
